I am a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner for the Department of Maternal Fetal Medicine with UAB. ie - I provide prenatal care to the underserved population of the Eastlake, Center Point, Irondale, Roebuck area.
2. How did you find out about CF?
I found out about CrossFit many years ago looking for a way to become healthy/lose weight. Dave and I finally decided to give it a try in 2015 after struggling in a chain gym and not seeing results.
3. What makes you come in and train on days that you don’t want to?
I try really hard to make coming to the gym after work part of my daily routine. There are a lot of days I just dont feel like it, but the thing that keeps me coming is the people. I like to see my friends and hear about their days and celebrate their PRs, and if I miss the WOD, I cant do any of those things. So, yeah the work out is great, and I sleep better on the days when i work out, and PRs are SO FUN, but i really come because of one thing, and I really think its the biggest part of Crossfit in general for me - the CAMARADERIE!
4. What’s your favorite movement and/or workout?
I have so many answers to this question. Can the lying on the ground trying not to die be my favorite part? or anything that is NOT the assault bike, rowing, running or burpees? NO? well, then, I guess my favorite thing would have to be bench press or power cleans. I really like EMOMs over AMRAPs also....DUH!
5. What’s one thing you would like to accomplish within CF in the next year?
Well on a daily basis, my goal is to survive the WOD. But long term I would like to be able to finally do a pull up and an overhead squat and complete my 2016 goal of getting all my lifts over 100 pounds, so far I have all of them except that dang snatch. I am coming for you snatch!
6. Name something about you that’s a little-known fact.
Well, i am not shy and consider myself an open book, but I guess some people might not know that I am originally from Mississippi and my college mascot is the Fighting Okra! Also, Dave and I met on Match.com, we are so progressive, I know!
